OSM (OpenStreetMap) is a common project aimed to make a free changeable world map.

Creators use information from different sources including GPS data, aerial photos and others.

If you have a CREATIVE COMMONS ATTRIBUTION-SHAREALIKE 2.0 license it’s possible to download vector graphics and different images.

The mechanism of the OMS is similar to Wikipedia site; after registration with an “Edit” tab you can change this or that image or add some thing new to it.

How it was created.

In 2004 Steve Coast created OSM. Two years later in April 2006 the OSMF (OpenStreetMap Foundation) was opened with a purpose to inspire and raise of distribution of different geographical information for free use. Later Yahoo, the famous Internet company, allowed OSM to use its aerial photos.

In a year the AUTOMOTIVE NAVIGATION DATA company gave full information of main roads in Netherlands, India and China. In July the first OSM conference has taken place. At that moment 9000 users have already registered. GOOGLE, YAHOO AND MULTIMAP was also added. Later in August another project, OPENAERIALMAP, was created. It contains amount of free license aerial photos. In October OSM imported data of the US Census TIGER. And in December of this year Oxford University became the first institution who used OSM at their official website.

At the beginning of 2008 it was made possible to download map to the GPS devices for motorcycles.  In February OSM was presented in India. Next month its founders declared that they have bought OSM data to the CloudMade company.

Who use it.

Until August more than 50,000 users were registered. In March this quantity doubled and at the end of 2009 there were about 200,000 users.

But not all these users make great contributions to the map. Only some of them add new information to the existing map. According to the statistics in March 2008 only 10% of registered users change the data each month.

How it works.

The first map was made in rather a simple way. Everyone could hold some surveys with the help of a notebook, GPS device, camera or voice recorder. Then this information became a part of OSM database.

Nowadays this work is done more quickly, because a lot of free sources of aerial photos became available and it’s easier to get them. In this case a team of technicians will converse and import the information.

How it is made.

There are search people called mappers that get the information about roads and other geographical objects. They do it on foot, by bicycle, car or boat. If necessary they can use their GPS devices.

After collection the information is uploaded on the main website. But at that moment no one knows how this information was got. That is why during the second stage they edit this information with the use of special map editors. In the most cases it is done by the mapper himself or by other users at OSM Карта Минска.

As collecting and uploading data is separated from editing objects, contribution to the project is possible also without using a GPS unit. As you can see all these steps don’t depend on each other, so addition of the information can be done without GPS help. It concerns putting schools, hospitals, cafes and other public places according to known facts.

There are users that regularly add some data about concrete towns or cities during definite time period. They even can map in details a separate area during only one day or weekend.

Besides great local researches, there are not so big edits and additions of data or its correcting.

“The times of matrimonial plans of Russia have passed” – it should be mentioned that recently the world society have been quite happy, but euphoria did not last long, the happiness was replaced by understanding – plans have not changed, but weapons have. “Gazprom” became a new way “to enslave the world”. At first, this prospect seemed doubtful. There were only “struggles” of local importance. But the main “offensive operation” was just being prepared. And a volley from all the guns roared after the announcement about the construction of a new gas pipeline to Europe – Nord Stream, which, according to an authoritative publication of The New York Times, was fated to become a wedge that has been skillfully driven into between the Eastern and Western Europe … well, why isn’t it a principle of “divide and rule”.

Even if only some people have appreciated this warning, it was followed by a number of gas crises called “energy wars” that were either a play of muscles or a test of their own power. It was a great success!  According to U.S. and Canadian political scientists, “Europe stood on its hind legs in front of Gazprom’s power”.

Europe can endlessly console itself with the thought that this dependence is mutual, because, despite the fact that it gets a quarter of all gas from Gazprom, it is the largest importer as well. And, according the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, it should defend Europe, but the prospect is very doubtful. On the horizon of gas domination we can see China that will obviously reduce this dependence on Gazprom in Europe, but the dependence of Europe itself…

In order not to shake its dominance in the world, Gazprom holds an accurate policy on the domestic market as well. According to Die Welt, it results in the fact that oil companies are forced to burn the gas as a byproduct of oil production.

Doubts in plans of Gazprom on seizure of the world are becoming increasingly clear, as the ex-head of the Polish security services has mentioned, saying “Yesterday there were used tanks, today there are used energy resources…” and the target is still the same!

If we analyze the activities of Gazprom on a global scale, we can hardly find places that have not yet been used by this monster or places it is only planning to use in future. The signals are coming from all over the world! Here is an overview of publications that speak for themselves.

Now the Russian monster has already got not only to the USA, but to Canada as well. Now everything depends on whether Canadians want to be sold to this gas monopolist or not. Gazprom has already done its first steps in Canada. But there, by coincidence, on the way of the monster emerged a barrier. It is a small Canadian company with a similar name. Although this firm was registered long ago, it is not a real obstacle for “invaders”. Gazprom decided to destroy it with its usual impudence and arrogance. Search for compromise and common interests is not the way for the monopolist. In the course of fighting all the things are good starting from lawyers who think that above money there can be only a lot of money and ending with humiliating and intimidating letters. Now everything depends on the Canadian government, in particular, the registrar of trade marks. But if Gazprom has already got there, then the monster has already done the first step in Canada.

Don’t Let Russian companies Ruin Our National Identity.

Our company GazProm Corp. (Federal Corporation of Canada) is not big, but we have business in Canada and abroad. The owner and his employees are all citizens of Canada. Our company was registered three years ago.

We deal with Internet technologies, development of engineering and modern types of Green fuel and Green energy as well.

We are well-known in the whole Canada under the name GazProm Corp. Though the company is only three years old, we have a good reputation and our own groundwork and clients. We do business according to the laws of Canada and for its benefit. Thus we are very respectable Canadian residents.

It happened that the name of our company GazProm Corp. that is made of the words Gaz(Gas) and Prom(Promotion) coincides with the name of a large Russian organization. Though this Russian company doesn’t have and we hope it won’t have business in our country under this name, but the point is that this Russian company is trying to take OUR name of the company and OUR trademark! Of course, we have enough money to pay for the litigation, but it’s too hard for us. If we lose, it means that Canada will lose as well. It will be the first step to conquer Canada by Russian companies. Firstly they will take our company and later on the other ones. It will destroy our national identity and independence of our motherland! Russian companies will eat us without any efforts, if we allow it to do this with us!

At present our lawyers are trying to solve the problem as it is better for us. But we know that these Russian people play some dirty game with us and we won’t be surprised that they can “buy” the solution of this problem for their benefit. We rely on our Canadian Intellectual Property Office and hope that they know much about those matters and won’t let Russian companies to take our national property.

We ask all of you who value the independence of our country, our motherland to support us. Leave your voice and your point of view in order to support us, thus you’ll give your view and civil voice in favour of the independence and stability of Canada and its citizens.

Goddamn them all! I hate those Russian companies  who want to put their curious noses into our land and our property. Is it not enough for them to stay where they are and to steal in their own country? I can’t understand it. Are they not lazy to come so long way from Russia to Canada and do their dirty business in our friendly and pure country? Bastards, that it! The very word for them and their foolish plans, though the plans are quite wise as they want to take something that belongs to us! Something that grew with us and became popular in Canada. I want to help the company GAZPROM CORP. Canada to withstand a siege from Russian bandits who think they are wiser than other people. But I know we can do everything if we really want it. So we should unite in order to achieve our aim – to protect GAZPROM CORP.Canada !
